So I wasn't sure what the holidays would be like for us being so far from home. I had been away for Thanksgiving before but not "away" as in the other side of the world. But the nice thing about being stationed at an Embassy, opposed to just living in a city overseas, is that all Embassy residents are in the same boat. We are all away from home, we all miss our families and friends, and we can all relate with one another.
Thanksgiving here in Jakarta was very nice. The next best thing to being at home with our family.
It all started when six of us decided we should have a Thanksgiving together. We invited our Marines and fellow Apartment friends to join us. So 18 people later, we asked the Marines if we could host at the Marine house in their living room. Picture their living room being a HUGE chapter room of a fraternity/sorority with complete living room/dining room furniture, bar, pool table, full kitchen, etc.
Everyone contributed appetizers, main course, and desserts. Needless to say, we had plenty of food and we were all thankful that we were able to spend the day together. We also invited our guards to come in and make a plate of food which I know they were very grateful for. We had so many leftovers that Brian and I hosted a second Thanksgiving leftover party the next night (with a smaller crowd).
| I had set my timer for this picture so I had to run over ... hence while I'm hanging out on the side |

Happy Thanksgiving to all our Family and Friends. We are so thankful that we have each of you in our lives.
