We were laying on a beach in Bali. So surreal.
It was one of those moments where you are like...holy [insert cuss word], I'm in Bali!

So this all started on Wednesday with a call from Brian. He said he has to go away for work for a few days and he wondered if I'd like to tag along. Naturally my first question...where are we going? His response..Bali! So one of the best parts about this trip is that our villa and Brian's flight were paid for since this was a "work" week for him.
Our resort was beautiful and each family had their own personal villa. The area of our resort was called Nusa Dua. A very secluded area of Bali...a very "resorty" area. Our goal is to try a few different areas of Bali so I think next time we'll try something on the west coast line.

We arrived to Bali on Sunday and left Wednesday night. Luckily, Brian only had to work two of the days on the island. I hired a private tour guide on Monday and visited Uluwatu Temple. A beautiful temple right on the mountain side of Bali. I also hiked from the temple to some of the local beaches. There are a lot of monkeys living at the temple. Very friendly; however, very good at pick-pocket. Thankfully my tour guide warned me to place all items (hat, sunglasses, etc) into my bookpag and to hold on tight to my camera while taking pictures. Exhibit A of why this was good advice below where a monkey literally grabbed glasses off a man's face while he was taking a picture.
I asked my tour guide to take me to some local beaches of Bali. I really didn't need to do the popular touristy area. Although my tour guide did drive me through the city of Kota which is much like Waikiki with the tourism and crowded beaches. I preferred the local areas. He took me to a beautiful beach/cove called Surfer's Beach. The beach area was very calm; however, there were waves further out which is how the beach received the name "Surfer"
Brian and I also enjoyed some of the local citys and restaurants. One of my favorite dinners was at a restaurant right on the beach. Beautiful sunset and a beautiful view of the Indian Ocean.
The trip was wonderful and we loved Bali. We can't wait to get back and try a different area of the island.
