So it has taken some time to upload all our pictures of the safari to shutterfly. Two reasons.... one, I got to try out my nice new Nikon camera and I took about 500 shots during the day (don't worry, I didn't upload ALL of them to shutterfly). Second, uploading pictures takes a few days as our internet is slow.

On Monday, Labor Day, Brian and I took a ride with our friends Leslie and Stanley to Taman Safari. Taman Safari is about one hour outside of Jakarta. You first drive through the park....animals roam free and you are caged in your car. As you can see from our pictures, you can feed the animals from your car. Some even trot next to the car to continue the feeding (greedy little animals). Then you can hold some of the baby animals, you will see we got to hold a baby lion, orangutan, leopard, and white tiger. The orangutan loved Brian...especially when he realized that Brian had more food hiding in his pocket (check out the shutterfly pictures for more of the orangutan's love for Brian).

There was a huge bird sanctuary that we walked through which was awesome...so many different types of tropical birds. Beautiful flamingos, swans, toucans (I refer to them as the cereal box bird). They also offer both camel (careful they spit...Lion King) and elephant rides.
It was not the best weather day as it did rain throughout the safari, however, it actually worked to our advantage as there were not as many people visiting that day.
We can't wait to get to Sumatra Island for the big Safari. I think we'll wait though until that volcano takes a break. In case you missed the news, volcano erupted on Sumatra Island...first time in 400 years.
