Flux Capacitor

We have arrived into the future (thanks Woo for inspiring me with the title).   We landed in Jakarta.  First impression, rice paddies...lots and lots of rice paddies.

So we get to the Customs line at the Jakarta airport and I'm looking around and although I knew that light haired people were uncommon, I realized that out of the 200 people waiting in the lines, I was the only person with blonde hair.  Oh, and Brian was like 5 feet taller than anyone else.

Brian's coworker met us at the airport and drove us to our apartment.  The good news was that all our luggage arrived a-ok.  Something that I always fear, especially when flying two different airlines half way around the world.

A huge city but pretty much what I expected.  Traffic is bad but I was prepared for that. Our hotel is situated right off the highway behind a huge stone wall.  I can't take pictures of the outside of our apartment complex but I'll send pictures of the inside.  We walked to the embassy yesterday...door to door it took us about 8 minutes which will be awesome for Brian's commute.

I get some looks being "albino" but nothing bad and everyone is very nice and very supportive as we attempt to speak the little Bahasa that we know.

We got our internet and TV hooked up yesterday...Brian was happy when he found a baseball channel.  Hopefully our phone will be hooked up by this weekend.  Well, it is 3:08AM on Friday,  August 20th.  Clearly Brian nor I have adjusted to the new time zone.  The lady I was talking to at the Embassy yesterday said it will take us about two weeks to get fully adjusted.  WOW!

Art exhibit and City tour this weekend...will update with pictures soon.

Home sick and missing everyone but hanging in there with the best husband in the entire world.
