Friends and Family said I needed to add a final blog post to my island time. Ending an amazing two year journey with just one last entry might be hard, but I'm willing to give it a shot. No pictures, just my thoughts.
I have always been more of a "where do I want to go?" and less of a "who do I want to be?" kind of girl. Well, in the last 1.5 years, I have traveled to 7 countries and over 25 foreign cities to include Indonesia; Bali, Lombok, Sepa, Gili, Vietnam, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, and Hong Kong...just to name a few.
I have to thank some very important people...people who made Jakarta our home. People who we will cherish as friends even after we all leave Indoensia.
Thank you to:
Jen Monaghan (aka, my Rover). Thank you for always keeping things real.
Clare Orvis for being my eternal optimist.
Gaby Howard - (aka, Gaby-licious) Ready and willing for any adventure. Well, as long as A/C is involved.
Mike Howard - Our chef. Thank you for always entertaining and making each holiday a delicious holiday.
Kenny Uzogara - One of the nicest people I have ever met. Best. Bear Hugs. EVER.
Thank you for our family and friends for showering us with gift packages, letters, and phone calls. We could not have done all of this without their total love and support.
Most importantly, I have to thank Brian for not only making this wonderful adventure possible, but for teaching me not to be afraid of the unknown. That first week in Jakarta was rough for me, very rough. But my husband was there, beside me, letting me take my time to adapt to everything new in our world. The biggest lesson learned in this journey is that it's not where you go but who you go with. And I know anything is possible as long as I have Brian by my side.
So until our next adventure, and trust me..there will be a next overseas adventure, I turn the page on the Jakarta chapter of my life. And if I may steal a quote from my good friend, Jen, which sums up this adventure perfectly....
"...and it makes me smile to think that some of the best days of our lives haven't even happened yet."
"...and it makes me smile to think that some of the best days of our lives haven't even happened yet."
The End.
